Agape Pantry

Pam and Forrest Abbott are working with the Agape Pantry on the Bean Road. This is a new start for the Pantry, and they could use some help. Pam sent this note for anyone interested. A great volunteer opportunity.

The following is a list of pantry positions and times.  Any coverage the congregation could help with is greatly appreciated.  One of our food pick up volunteers will be taking a leave of absence in the spring.  Coverage for his shifts will be vital to our operation and maintaining our food supply for our clients.

Volunteers to cull out expired food and put away consumable food after each pick up.  We receive a large quantity of food bi-monthly from the USDA which requires some heavy lifting.  If anyone would like to make donations to the pantry, we can always use hygiene products.  We rarely receive items such as shampoo, soap, razors, tooth paste, tooth brushes, laundry soap, and toilet paper.

We also have a thrift store that could benefit from more volunteer support. The proceeds from the thrift store help support the pantry.  The thrift store hours are Monday – Saturday 9 am – 2 pm.

We are a cheerful, friendly group with hearts for service and would welcome the opportunity to grow our ministry with your assistance.

Shopping Card Program

The gift card program started in the fall of 2010. In 2016, it became the shopping card program to encourage the use of cards for everyday budget purchases. We became a Missions outreach program in 2018. The first $3,000 goes to the ministry of Dr. Mark and Deirdre Zimmerman in Nepal; any additional funds will support MUMC Outreach locally.

Further information and how to place your order can be found by following the link above to the Shopping Card page above.
