The Reverend Paul O'Neil

Our new pastor is Rev. Paul O’Neil. Rev. Paul as been the pastor of the Acushnet, Wesley UMC for the past 7 years where he has greatly increased the attendance during his tenure.

Paul and his wife Janet have been married for 29 years and have a son, Ben who will be attending MA next year as a junior. Ben has already visited the school and is very excited to start. Janet currently teaches special needs students in the New Bedford high school.

Rev. Paul is retired from the US Army where he served as a chaplin. He graduated Plymouth State with a BS in business Administration in 1976. He attended Southeastern Bible College, Assemblies of God Theological Seminary and Boston University School of Theology. Paul has visited all 50 states and 34 countries. He is a community minded individual and is presently very active in many local endeavors. Rev. Paul places a high priority on Pastoral visitation.

Paul’s unofficial philosophy of life is “live well, laugh often and love much”.

Our committee spent several hours with Paul and our D.S., John Blackadar and we all came away very impressed. Paul was peppered with questions in a lively two way discussion and my personal take is that he and the MUMC are a match made in heaven (pun intended).

Rev. Paul’s first Sunday as our Pastor will be July 11, 2010 and I know that we all will welcome Paul, Janet and Ben warmly as part of our Church family.
