The Reverend Sharon L. Baker

Pastor Sharon hails from the Midwest and previously served the Marquette Park UMC in Gary, Indiana.  She was in the ministry in Indiana for more than 10 years serving churches in both rural and urban settings. She believes in the need for a personal relationship with Christ nourished by scripture, worship, study and prayer. She is a Stephen Minister and while caring for her mother prior to her death, has been the recipient of a Stephen Minister’s care.  She is familiar with and supports the Walk to Emmaus.  She is committed to taking God’s love outside the church walls and to meeting the needs of people where they are.

Prior to answering the call to ministry, Pastor Sharon practiced law in Chicago, specializing in divorce and custody litigation.  She jokingly says that she went from the dark side to the light! She is a certified mediator and a skilled and successful grant writer.

Pastor Sharon has fallen in love with New England!  She requested a move to the New England Conference to be closer to family in the Boston area and is thrilled to have moved to Moultonborough.   Indiana’s loss is our gain.  Pastor Sharon brought with her a faithful canine companion, Maggie, with whom she enjoys taking long walks. Other leisure-time passions are watching football – Yes, she cheers for the Patriots; cooking and baking – think potluck suppers; collecting antique kitchen ware; and having coffee with friends.

The Shepherd’s crook has been passed to Pastor Sharon and the congregation has welcomed her with loving and joyful hearts.
